Top Iguazu Hotels

by Jon Hudson

The frontier area of Argentina is a vast natural area that has seen little urban development. This means many hotels have been able to build lush resorts for guests from around the world, all here to see one thing, the mighty Iguazu Falls. Many of the accommodations, from premium to youth hostels, have been constructed with swimming pools and outdoor facilities to make it easy to relaxing in the warm North Argentine sun. If you are looking to be pampered with luxury, with an actual view of the Falls from your hotel room, the five star Sheraton Iguazu is the place to be. Being the only hotel inside the actual Iguazu National park, it is in walking distance from the key attractions in the park. From this hotel you can walk to the Devils Throat and the other nearby waterfalls. The hotel boasts all the premium features you would expect in this type of hotel such as a modern spa and sauna, a fully equipped gym as well as classes in Yoga and Pilates. For something a little less grand, the four star La Cantara Jungle Lodge is only ten minutes away from the entrance to the national park. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and features a pool side bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The rooms a well decorated and the hotel has a feel of isolation. For those of you though that have trouble with the heat - air conditioning is a bonus. The Amerian Portal de Iguazu puts you a little closer to the frontier, being only 100 meters from the three frontier landmark. Four star hotel gives you excellent views of the merging Parana and Iguazu rivers. The hotel has two restaurants at different locations and offers you all you could need for a relaxing Argentina vacation. For more budget conscious travelers there are a great many number of 3 star hotels in the area. The key thing when searching is to ensure that the hotels offer hot water and a breakfast. The Hotel Saint George is actually situated near to the bridge with Brazil, closer to the center of Puerto Iguazu. This means hopping over to Brazil for a day trip and accessing the facilities of the town are very easy. The hotel though does not scrimp on quality and offers a swimming pool and games room with clean, neat and comfortable rooms with private bathrooms. The Orquideas Hotel is a simple and easy hotel. Surrounded by lush green reserve land it is located with easy connections to all the attractions in the area. Rooms are simple and provide all that you need. The hotel though has a hidden gem; it offers a quaint cottage accommodation in the middle of the jungle with its own private pool. Here you can dine and relax on tropical terraces and enjoy some time to yourself. This is only available on request. For people though on a real budget, you should look into staying at one of the Hostelling International hostels. These are not only for backpackers and offer private rooms, some with bathrooms including breakfast.
