Lake Cruises on Derwentwater
by Vineeta Greenwood
Derwentwater is one of the beautiful lakes in the Cumbrian region. Located within the locale of the splendid Lake District of the United Kingdom, many people tread to Derwentwater to enjoy the outdoor adventures the lake can offer. One can drive up to Keswick and stay in one of the hotels of Keswick and troop down to Derwentwater for some lazy time afloat its waters.
Simply put, cruising the surface of Derwentwater is like a dream. Its setting is ideal for those who are in tune with nature and for those who get a romantic kick when they are left alone with their loved ones in the middle of the lake. And who can blame them? Derwent water is surrounded by great sights - towering crags, green hills, and wood-filled landscape. With the city of Keswick just right up on its shores, guests of Keswick hotels will surely be enticed to explore and experience lake cruises on the surface of Derwentwater.
If you choose to really enjoy a great time in Derwentwater, here is what you can expect on a lake cruise. Derwentwater has four islands in its waters - St. Herbert's Lord's Island, Derwent Island, and Rampsholme. Each of the four islands holds a very deep history and some remnants of the pass. Consider yourself very lucky if you can set foot on even one of these islands.
Aside from lake cruises, one can enjoy a whole day of inland hiking as well. There are cruising trips in Derwentwater that also include treks to the Friars Crag. If you staying in one of the hotels of Keswick, you can get to the Friars Crag by taking a boat from Keswick's boat landings and row down to the shoreline at the foot of the crag. Once you land, you can take a hilly walk until you reach the top. And the view is very much worth the effort as you are treated to a scenic Derwentwater and the hills and the other crags on the other banks.
If you plan to spend a vacation by the lake, you definitely won't go wrong if you check in at one of Keswick hotels. There is a very good reason why they call Derwentwater the 'Queen of The Lakes.' If you want to find out, you can log on to hotel price comparison site and book your reservations in one of the hotels of Keswick and troop down there with your friends and families.
Words can only describe the beauty of Derwentwater, but like everything that is so beautiful, you need to experience the whole thing yourself if you want to understand it.
