How Do I Plan For My Next Ski Or Snowboarding Trip?

by Al O.

Like planning any vacation you need to outline exactly how much money you want to spend on your trip. The budget needs to be something that you be able to follow. There is nothing worse than going on a trip and half way through the trip run out of money. When creating a budget you need to outline all the stuff you will have to buy. You should also outline the extra stuff like going to a nice restaurant or getting some souvenirs.

The big things on your budget will be the cost of transportation and the cost of the ski resort. The cost transportation is dependent on whether you have to fly to your destination or whether you can just drive. Driving to the ski resort will be cheaper of course, however I wouldn't suggest you look at how flying it sometimes is cheaper. The price of ski resorts varies it can be around $50 or it can get into the thousands. When you book reservations at a resort you can just get passes to the park alone which is cheaper than staying at one of the lodges in the resort. You don't have to stay at the resorts housing there are usually much cheaper motels and hotels close to the resort.

When your planning your trip don't neglect your food budget. Always put a little more than you think you'll use. However if you staying at a lodge at the resort the meals are usually bundled with the cost of your lodging. If your staying at a motel or hotel you might have to pay extra for their food which usually isn't that good.

Your entertainment budget is something that shouldn't be left out there will be things happening around the resort when you go. Whether it be concerts or some type of snowboarding or skiing competition. You might want to go so its always good to plan for that.

You also need to think about whether you want to buy some kind of souvenirs from the gift shops. Souvenirs are always good so you can't totally discount the idea of getting some. You need to think about the possibilities of you needing to buy some new clothes while your there.
